William Tyndale (1492-1536), English Bible translator and reformer, was born in Gloucestershire and descended from an ancient Northumbrian family. His brother, Edward Tyndale, inherited the lands of Lord Berkeley. William Tyndale himself never married before his untimely death at age 44.
