Webdings was created in 1997.

At top of screen click on Insert then Symbol and it is among the long list of characters and is technically Webdings: 00C8 orÈ or È in Webdings
Alt+3 or Webdings Capital Y .

change the font to Webdings then do a capital y and you will get a heart
To make hearts on AIM, you change your font to Webdings, put CapsLock on, and type "Y". You can also copy and paste off the internet, but I usually just use Webdings. Also you can just type <3 which a lot of people do.
Arial Unicode MS has the peace symbol as - Unicode 262E Also you get a dove with Webdings 255
If you go to Insert Symbol and pick the Webdings font, you will find a wheelchair symbol that can be inserted into your document.
This font has been available in Windows since the beginning, it is not unique to Word nor new in 2010. Just select text in this font then change the selected text to Latin-1 font and you can read it, but don't expect it to make any sense or even contain words.
The different applications have an Insert menu and from that a Symbol option. Once there you can get it through a number of the fonts, such as Webdings or Wingdings.
I don't think you can do it in Wingdings, but in Webdings (which you should have since you have Wingdings) the palm tree is a Capital letter J. Hope that helps
