Who is Yakov Kasman?
Yakov Kasman is a professor of piano and artist in residence at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. A naturalized American citizen, Professor Kasman was born in Orel, Russia, a town near Moscow. He began playing at the age of five and studied at Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory, including post graduate work.He has won many major juryed competitions and currently is a juror at some of those same competitions. As an artist, he has recorded 14 CDs for the Calliope label. Some of his exquisite live recordings may be found on YouTube; they are very much worth listening to. As a guest performer, he has performed all over the world.
