supplement. Of course, before the invention of colour vision, no colours could be perceived. In the same way, we still have no natural sense of UV, IR, radio waves, x-rays and so on. Most animals lack colour vision. Butterflies and birds have colour vision superior to humans. In the case of butterflies, some have at least 4 colour receptors.
And the "two colour" theory of light propounded by Edwin Land is not yet satisfactorily explained.
