I do not know when the band was created but Jacob Hoggard the lead singer had his band before he auditioned for the second season of Canadian idol(2004). After placing third in the competition, he parted ways with his old band members and a new band came into place with the old name Hedley. Some songs that were used on the first album came from the original Hedley and Jacob Hoggard writes most of the music for the band. If you want to get into touch with his inspirations he has a blog that he writes personal stories and experiences. If you go to his twitter account @jacobhoggard you can click on the website and it will come up.
The drummers name from the band hedley is Chris.

Well, there's a town in British Columbia (BC) called Hedley. The band members were thinking about buying the town when they didn't have a name for their band. But instead of buying it, they named their band Hedley! Hope I helped, I LOVE hedley!!<3
Hedley the band is named after a small but famous mining town in British Columbia. The original members in Hedley learned that the town was for sale. They were considering buying it. They named the band Hedley. They didn't buy it, but the name stayed.
