Roy Mill ceased production as a cotton mill owned by Shiloh Spinners Ltd August 31 1981,It was purchased for housing in 1983 and majority of the building was demolished 1984 due to a financial dispute the registration offices main tower and another tower at the far end at the north end of the site inc the 190ft chimney were left in situ and demolition resumed in 1986 site completely cleared for housing three years later renamed Chapelway Gardens
