NYC has electric taxis made by the Pope Co. in 1897 and Edison begins work on a car battery. By 1900 there are 4,192 cars on the road with 28% are electric and in 1972 GM produces the Buick Skylark hybrid. In 1974 CitiCar is produced by Vanguard-Sebring, 1997 the Toyota Prius is on the road.
