Charles Darwin laid the basis for the theory of evolution. Although he was vehemently attacked by the Church, there is no record that suggests that he was excommunicated.
Japanese bombed Darwin I believe
Japanese aircraft attacked Darwin in two waves on 19 Feb 1942. One wave at roughly 1000 hours ad the second one two hours later. More bombs were dropped on Darwin than were dropped on Pearl Harbour. Darwin suffered almost 100 raids over the 42/43 period.

The only Australian City bombed in WW2 was Darwin.? Incorrect; There were 97 air attacks by the Japanese on Australian Military/towns/Cities throughout World War Two. Darwin was actually bombed on 64 occasions during the war. The other Australian Cities/Towns attacked during the 'Battle For Australia' during World War Two were: Wyndham, Port Hedland, Derby, Katherine, Townsville and Mossman amongst many others.
