In February 24, 1821, as the Mexican War of Independence (1810-1821) came to an end. It had however, a different design with three diagonal stripes and yellow stars which nonetheless, had the same red, green and white colors of the current flag. A more modern design was adopted on November of the same year, and the current, final design was adopted on September 16, 1968.
