The release date was removed after the studio went into bankruptcy and could not distribute the film into theaters. Now it is supposed to come out on November 21, 2012.

Red Dawn is a remake of a dreadful film. The amateur made film was created in 1984. There was a new movie which was released in 2012, which was a considerable amount better.

The movie Red Dawn released in 2012 is a remake of a 1984 film of the same title, and, according to Wikipedia, "The script for Red Dawn was written by John Milius and Kevin Reynolds from a story by Reynolds." Thus it is not based on a book.
