The official publication date for Dark Mage was 2006, but it was never released. Rachel Roberts changed publishers, so all the books are being reprinted. Dark Mage, along with the last book in the cycle, Full Circle, should be out in late 2009. The only teaser that has been released is that Dark Mage will be about Kara and Adriane's relationship.

Emily becomes the dark mage because she is the one they were least worried about. They thought for sure that Kara was to be the dark mage so I guess they took the weakest link and the one they knew the mages weren't prepared for. Also Emily is capable of many powerful things that can be used for bad easily. I guess that's right.
