Lincoln Mark VII Safety Air Bags need to be serviced by a professional. Do NOT take chances with this.
Code 51 on the SRS (Supplemental Restraint System) of a Lincoln Mark VII typically indicates a fault with the airbag system, specifically related to the driver's side airbag circuit or the system's internal fault. This could involve issues such as a malfunctioning airbag module, an open circuit, or a problem with the wiring. It's essential to have the system diagnosed using a compatible scanner to pinpoint the exact issue and ensure safety. Always consult a professional mechanic or technician for accurate diagnosis and repair.

To remove the starter from a 1988 Lincoln Mark VII, first disconnect the negative battery terminal to ensure safety. Then, locate the starter, which is positioned near the transmission. Remove the electrical connections from the starter, followed by the mounting bolts securing it to the engine block. Once the bolts are removed, carefully pull the starter out of its position.

The Lincoln Mark VII was primarily offered with gasoline engines and did not have a diesel variant produced by Lincoln. While some other manufacturers offered diesel options in the 1980s, the Mark VII lineup, which was produced from 1984 to 1992, did not include any diesel models. Thus, the number of Lincoln Mark VII diesels produced is zero.
Lincoln did not offer a Mark VII in 1993.. Lincoln stopped production in 1992. Then started the Mark VIII in 1993
