I think the first time it erupted was 2.1 million years ago. At least of the first time yellowstone had erupted very powerfully. The other times were 1.5 million years ago, and 640,000 years ago.
No. The last time Yellowstone erupted there were no people around to be affected.
Yes. It erupted 3 time in the last 2.1 million years
Yellowstone
No volcano has erupted in Yellowstone Park, at least not in recorded history.
Nowhere
We are actually 20,000 years over-due for in to have erupted. It could happen any time.
Mount Vesuvius has erupted many, many times. The first time it erupted we don't know if there was a town there and if there was, it certainly was not Pompeii.Mount Vesuvius has erupted many, many times. The Yellowstone volcano is still active. This is proven by the 1,000 to 3,000 earthquakes per year, thermal features in Yellowstone, and active ground deformation. However, the Yellowstone volcano has not erupted in a very long time.
1992
It is believed that 2.1 million years ago, Yellowstone 'Supervolcano' did erupt, it then erupted a second time and the last time it erupted was 640,000 years ago. In 2008, scientists measured high seismic activity showing that Yellowstone could potentially erupt again but hopefully not any time soon. But in proper answer to your question, Yellowstone spewed lava last 70,000 years ago and its most recent super-eruption was 640,000 years ago. Scientists say it is overdue for another eruption but this is all we know so far.
