Witchcraft, in its many forms, has been believed in by people the world over. It has followed humankind in all of its travels, and migrations. Many of the aboriginal peoples of North America believe in witchcraft.

It would be hard to put an exact date on when witchcraft originally came to the United States, but my most accurate guess would be that it was there before the United States was formed.

The answer to that is lost in the mists of time. Humankind has been practicing some form of witchcraft/mysticism/magic as long as we have been self aware. As a species we are uncomfortable in believing we are unable to control and/or direct the things that happen around us. So magic in all its forms arose.
