Well, technically the white tiger is not so much threatened as much as it is ( and always has been) a captive color variety of tiger. White tiger's are not Siberian tigers, a common misconception. But, instead, are all descended from a single male white bangle tiger named Mohan "He was captured as a cub in 1951 byMaharaja Shri Martand Singh of Rewa, whose hunting party in Bandhavgarh found a tigress with four 9-month-old cubs, one of which was white." ( wiki article white tiger) this tiger was Mohan. from 1951 on Mohan ( who died in 1970) and his descendants have been continually bred for the purpose of producing other white tigers, which are a valuable commodity to zoo's today. Because they've always only existed in captivity their numbers have always be low, well low as far as wild standards are concerned. So they aren't necessarily threatened, just captive bred. So long as white tigers increase zoo attendance white tigers will always be around.
