What is Chinese New Year all about?
What is Chinese New Year all about?
The Chinese New Year is celebrated by the Chinese people. The holiday is celebrated worldwide. The Chinese New Year is also known as the Spring Festival.
The animal that represented the Chinese New Year in 1983 is the pig.
Last year's Chinese New Year was on a different day than this year's because our western (Gregorian) calendar clashes (doesn't match) with the Chinese Lunar Calendar. Thus, Chinese New Year is never on the same day every year.
The Chinese New Year has begun on Feburary 14th in the following years:193419532010
This coming Chinese New Year, which starts on the 3rd of February 2011, will be the year of the rabbit.
Chinese people celebrate Chinese new year because it is a brand new year for Chinese people (and they want to receive red packets).
They wear it on Chinese New Years. :]
