An archer could shoot several times per minute, and the effect on the enemy was probably much worse than what firearms would do until repeating rifles were developed. The great reason the musket replaced the bow was that it did not require much training.
The long bow's range measured in yards was 200 yards and could be fired six times faster than a crossbow.
