I actually think you can just unplug the appropriate fuse. Check your users manual and verify that the door chime relates to a fuse, and verify that nothing else relates to it.
You have two options. 1) Use the adapter to keep your door chimes and warning sounds. 2) Don't use an adapter, and lose all your factory sounds and chimes.
