The first pair of shoes generally recognized as "sneakers" appeared in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, closely tied to the rubber industrial revolution of the time. Early sneakers appeared almost simultaneously in Britain and the United States between the 1860s and 1890s. At the time, people needed a lightweight, quiet alternative to hard-soled leather shoes, suitable for exercise.
In the 1840's, Goodyear came up with the first vulcanized rubber galoshes; in the 1870s, he made canvas-and -rubber tennis shoes that were an early version of sneakers. Actual sneakers, however, were invented by the conglomerate that bought Goodyear's shoe company in 1892 -- U.S. Rubber.
They are sneakers that have some type of flaw or defect that came from the factory. They aren't fake but a mistake was made. They are not Variants though.
