Why do whites hate Barack Obama?
I don't think all whites hate him. In fact, he has consistently received about 43% of the white vote. Granted, Republican candidates have received a bigger number of white voters, but many white people did support Mr. Obama in 2008 and continued to support him in 2012. That said, there is a small but vocal segment of white voters who either (a) do not like having a black president, (b) think the president is a Muslim and they don't like Muslims, or (c) think the president is a Marxist, and they don't like Marxists. The sad part is that Mr. Obama has been the subject of so much misinformation: he is not a Muslim, he is not a Marxist. But he is the elected president and he deserves the respect the holder of that office should be given. Disagreement with a president's policies is certainly understandable in any democracy. But there are about 19% of Republicans, most of whom live in the reddest of the red states, who refuse to admit that Barack Obama is an American, or refuse to accept that he is a Christian; and when they disagree with what their favorite talk show tells them his policies are, they continue to believe he is a Marxist-- which he is not, and never has been. On the other hand, we should not confuse a very vocal 19% with the vast majority of white Americans, including those who voted for him because they thought he was a good candidate, and those who opposed him not because of his race but because they disagreed with his politics.
