The rut is when the bucks start chasing the does! Really, I have found the peak of the rut in Iowa to be the week of Veterans day. Give or take as deer are unpredictable but this has always been a HOT week.
The South Carolina deer rut or the peak of rut season for the Piedmont is between October 15th and November 15th.
Southwestern Missouri typically experiences the whitetail deer rut from late October to early December, with the peak rut occurring in mid-November. However, exact timing can vary each year based on factors like weather conditions and deer population. It's best to consult local hunting resources or experts for the most accurate information.
Someone here wrote October 7th....that is WAY OFF. The peak here is usually between the 1st and 3rd week of November. I personally believe that the weather (coldness) affects it a small amount. Also, the time changing later this year may push it back a bit. I killed an 8 pointer in Athens GA last year on Nov. 8th and the deer were beginning rut then. I saw 10 deer that morning and two bucks were chasing does.
Deer usually rut in North Florida the last week of October to the first week of November, give or take.
Rut occurs in the fall.
Rut runs from the end of october to the end of december. The does have three cycles when they come into heat during that time.
Deer hunting during the rut is mainly waiting for the overactive, hormone-filled animals to cross your path. Hunting post rut, when the deer have learned the lessons of deer season and have satisfied their urges, is a bit more challenging.
