3rd bomb was in San Francisco on August 18, 1945 for delivery to Tinian. It might have been about a week later before it was dropped.

3 more bombs were to be ready in September 1945.

3 more bombs were to be ready in October 1945.

7 more bombs were to be ready in November 1945.

7 more bombs were to be ready in December 1945.

The US was ready and had the ability to have dropped 23 atomic bombs on Japan in 1945. Who knows what the 1946 production schedule have been?

What would have happened if the atomic bomb had failed to persuade Japan to surrender?

Far more people would have died in our efforts to defeat Japan. The country would have been blockaided until the Emperor surrendered, the Allies would have continued to use conventional bombs on the large cities, and when the Allies finally DID invade Japan, many Allied soldiers would have died. It was a difficult decision for the president to use that device, and although it seems evil now, there weren't many alternatives. * A third bomb would have been ready in less than a week and a fourth was being manufactured.

Did the US have a third bomb available in World War 2?

No. The test device detonated in July and the two dropped on Japan exhausted the available fissile uranium. Work was continuing around the clock at Oak Ridge, Tennessee and Hanford, Washington to refine more, but it would have been several months before another operational bomb was ready.

Would the US have used nuclear bomb on Japan if the population of Japan were Europeans?

We can never know for certain as that is not the case. However had the Nazies been able to continue fighting or had the bombs been ready before the Nazi surrender, I believe there is a good chance the first atomic bomb would have been dropped in Germany instead of Japan. But this is also not the case as they surrendered before the atomic bomb was available. Counterfactual History can be fun to think about, but rapidly disintegrates into uncontrolled and irrational speculation.

Why did women have to do what they did during the blitz?

If the women did not do what they had to then none of the guns and weapons would of been ready and the team that they were on would lose because there is no weapons to fight with. What would have happend if the atomic bomb had not been dropped?

Thousands and thousands of American and Japanese lives would have been lost in conventional fighting.

Why was Truman's use of the atomic bomb in japan racist?

It wasn't. The atom bomb was develped too late to use on Germany, so was used only on Japan. Had it been ready six months earlier, no doubt Dresden or somewhere would have got the benefit of it.

Will there be a atomic bome war?

There has already been 1; WW2 saw the use of 2 atomic weapons. One would hope there will never be another.

When would another nuclear weapon have been ready to use after the Nagasaki bomb was dropped?

The 3rd atomic bomb was in San Francisco on August 18, 1945 when Tibbets arrived to ferry it to Tinian. Had not Japan already surrendered, it might have been 3 to 5 days to arrive on Tinian and it would have been dropped 1 to 2 days later. Say from August 22, 1945 to August 25, 1945. Instead the bomb was returned to Los Alamos. (perhaps it became one of the 1946 Operation Crossroads devices at Bikini Atoll, but I couldn't verify that). Another 3 atomic bombs were scheduled in September. Another 3 atomic bombs were scheduled in October. Another 7 atomic bombs were scheduled in November. Another 7 atomic bombs were scheduled in December. See: Swords of Armageddon by Chuck Hansen.

Why is atomic mass usually a whole number?

It is not usually a whole number. It would appear that you have been misinformed.

How does us used atomic bombs?

The only time the US ever used Atomic Bombs was during World War 2 when the first atomic bombs were used. Nowadays, the atomic bombs are kept underground. Nuclear missiles are ready to use in the case of a nuclear warhead being launched at the US by an enemy or unknown foe. There have been thousands of nuclear warheads disabled since the Cold War ended.

Why did the Battle of Okinawa lead to the atomic bomb?

The Battle of Okinawa did not lead to the atomic bomb, this battle happened in 1945 just a couple of months before the Manhattan Project completed the atomic bomb which they had been working on since 1942. With or without the Battle of Okinawa the atomic bomb would have been finished at the same time and dropped on Japan at the same time.

Why was Tokyo not hit with the atomic bomb?

Tokyo had already been hit by many firebombing raids, it would be too difficult to tell the damage they caused from the damage caused by atomic bombs.
