A butterfly can be drawn in gimp by using the paths tool, and brush tools. Create a new layer Take your paths tool and draw out 1 wing of a butterfly, fill it with color Duplicate your wing layer Use the flip command to flip your duplicated wint, and the move command to move it in place Use the paths tool to create the body Fill it with color
Select the Move tool, and click the layer you want to move, then click and drag to move it. ;)
Personally I prefer the free-hand select (third one in), or to hit the ruby filter and use the eraser.
You can select the part of the image you want to sharpen and click on the sharpen tool or you can just click on the sharpen tool and use the brush to sharpen certain areas. thegimpking.blogspot.com
After opening GIMP choose your background color as well as foreground color. Then click "File" then "New" and select whatever sizes you want. After you have a new layer, click on the brush tool and start drawing! Tutorials here: thegimpking.blogspot.com
Yes, it's called the "path tool"
Create a new image, click on Dialogs then Tool Options, a new window should pop up, simply click on the title below the blue windows title and drag it onto the bottom half of the main GIMP window
There isn't - which is an obscene idea. GIMP designers know BETTER what's convenient.
To crop with GIMP, select the crop tool from your toolbox (the thing that comes up when gimp starts with all of the buttons on it) and click your picture. The crop tool looks like a little knife pointing left and it's between the box icon with four arrows pointing outwards and the icon with two blue rectangles with white arrows. Once you have found that button, click it. Then click your picture. A screen should pop up with a height and width number that you can adjust. Simply change those numbers to what you want or drag the lines on the picture to change the area you want. Then click the picture or hit 'ok' and your picture will be cropped.
In the tool bar. State the obvious.
GIMP is a photo-editing tool much like Photoshop. You can visit the My Gimp Tutorial website and learn how to use various aspects of using GIMP, as well as installing brushes.
