It is pierced from the outside of the nose down into a receiving tube which is placed up your nostril. The reason for this is so the needle does not poke the inner lining of your nasal canal.

Nose PiercingOkay, hum, when you get your nose pierced, it swells, but only on the inside of your nose. The swelling is going down most probably. But I would go see a Doctor, just to be on the safe side.(:
