When you open a bottle of perfume why can you smell it from the other side of the room?

everything is made up of particles- the air, and every gas, liquid and solid there is. that includes your perfume and the air around it. the particles in gas are very spread out, allowing more particles from elsewhere to diffuse around them, and possible mix with them. As perfume is sprayed, the particles will turn into a gas, colliding and mixing with the air particles. As the particles in gas are far apart from each other the particles from the perfume are allowed though the particles, spreading out (diffusing) all over the room. The particles are obviously scented, so that's that.

∙ 10y agoThat is the gas that is released from the bottle spreading to fit the container it is in (i.e your house or the outside world). If a gas gets spread too much the smell will die down because it is no longer all together and it is weak. I hope this helped :)
