The animals must be released a considerable distance or they will return. Another concern is that neighboring raccoons will move into the territory that is now considered abandoned.
The Raccoon will keep coming back, The Critter Guy even advised me always to take action on it ASAP. It's prevalent to see raccoons here in Canada.

I have raised many, many orphaned raccoons to release as adults back to the wild and can guarantee that their teeth are quite sharp. A bite from a youngster can be quite painful and draw blood. A bite from an adult can send you to the emergency room for stitches.

The Texas Parks and Wildlife Department does not give an estimated population for raccoons. They do say that even though bobcats and coyotes prey on them for food, that the number of raccoons in Texas is not in decline.
