Before connecting the new printer, make sure you install the drivers provided by the manufacturer. These should be on a CD that came with the printer. If you do not have/can not find the CD, you should be able to download them from the manufacturer's website.

How to Install a Printer?

When you install a printer on your computer, you are letting your operating system know that a specific kind of printer is hooked up. To install a printer, start by following the printer’s instruction manual to assemble and hook up the printer. Once you have done this you need to install the printer software. Go to the start menu, find settings, and choose printers. From you you will double click where it says Add Printers. This will open up a wizard called the Print Wizard. The Print Wizard will walk you through the steps of installing your printer. If it is a network printer, you should know its network path before completing the wizard. The wizard will ask you to insert the CD for your printer’s software. In some cases a pre-installed version of the software may already be available on the computer, although it could be outdated. The wizard will ask you if you want to use the new printer as your default printer. You should select this option only if this is the printer that you want your computer to use automatically when you choose to print a document. This means that if you want your computer to print from a different printer, you will need to select that option from the print menu whenever you print a document. If this is the only printer that you have installed on the computer than select that you would like for this printer to be the default printer. The wizard will then ask you if you would like to print out a test page. It is a good idea to do this. The test page will let you know if the printer is working properly. It will show you what the test page looks like on the screen. If it does not look like this when it prints out then there is a problem with the software. When you are satisfied with the set up of your new printer, click on the button that says finish at the bottom of the wizard. This will close the wizard and allow you to resume normal computer work. That is it, from this point forward your new printer should be working.

Should the ram be installed before the CPU?

Since the computer won't work without both of them installed it doesn't matter which is installed first.

Which type of software needs to be loaded onto a computer before a printer will work?

In most cases - nothing. Windows automatically recognises a wide range of printers. However - on some occasions, you might need driver software - usually supplied with the printer. Windows 8 recognised my printer without the need for driver software to be installed.

Can you install dell printer to a compaq computer?

You most certainly can. Just because it is a dell printer; doesn't mean that it has to run on a dell computer; Just make sure you put in the CD to install the drivers and software BEFORE plugging in the printer otherwise it won't work

The Benefits of a Printer Ink Cartridge?

When a printer ink cartridge starts to run low, the software that is installed with the printer will often alert this on the screen. Oftentimes, this will be before the ink level starts to affect the quality of what is being printed, and this can be beneficial to anyone printing an important document.

Will a Dell printer work with a computer that was not purchased from Dell?

A Dell printer is compatible with computers not purchased from Dell. Each printer requires a different system requirement. For example, it would be hard to use a modern Dell printer with a computer made before 1995 because of the lack of USB ports.

How to Install a Printer in 3 Easy Steps?

This article is written for those of you who have a small business or home office. You probably know your business well, but technical details like this aren’t your first priority. That’s okay. Read on to know just what you need to install your printer with as little hassle as possible.Step 1: Read the InstructionsThis may seem like a given. However, most people run into trouble with installing a printer because they don’t read the instructions. Don’t assume you can simply plug and play. Although most companies make those claims, printers are complicated pieces of equipment. There may be a quick-start guide included with your printer which has pictures to make your installation easier.Step 2: Install the DriverWhat is a driver? The driver instructs your computer on how to use the printer. Computers are not people, and they need to be told what to do. Normally, the driver should be installed before you connect your printer to the computer. Otherwise, your computer will know there’s a printer connected but won’t know what to do with it.The driver should be on a CD included with your manual and instruction book. Insert the CD into your computer. Then, follow the prompts. It’s usually a matter of clicking the next and yes buttons when prompted. If you don’t have a CD, then you can still get the driver from the manufacturer’s website. Simply look on the box for the name of the company that made your printer. Visit their website, and go to the support section. You can download the driver there.Step 3: Connect the CablesYou’ve successfully installed the driver, so now it’s time to connect the printer to the computer. This consists of two cords: the power cord and the printer cable. You may also need to insert the ink cartridges into the printer. Check your installation guide to know for sure.Once you’ve plugged in the printer cable, the computer should recognize that new hardware has been installed. Simply follow the instructions of the wizard. Again, it’s usually as simple as clicking the next and yes buttons when prompted. After that, congratulations! You’ve successfully installed your home or office printer.
