On a 1998 Ford Expedition :
The Mass Air Flow sensor is located between the engine air filter and the big
rubber engine air intake tube ( it is INSIDE the circular shaped plastic
housing , you will see where the wires go inside )
I'm not a mechanic / technician but I was looking at a picture on fordparts.com and it shows the mass airflow sensor located around the engine air filter assembly on the drivers side for a 2006 Ford Expedition

On a Ford Expedition ( 4.6 and 5.4 ) Bank 1 is the passenger side of the engine Sensor 1 would be close to the engine BEFORE the exhaust enters the catalytic converter Sensor 2 would be AFTER the exhaust has passed through the catalytic converter

The sensor is locate on the hose that connects to the air filter. Big Black hose (Wire is sticking out the hose) It cost $15 dollars at part store.
on my 1995 Explorer 4.0 OHV, the mass airflow sensor is located between the plastic housing for my air filter and the rubber air tube going to the throttle body of the engine
