A PLC panel is one that houses Programmable Control Logic Processor. The Processor will be wired with Limit switches, Proximity detector's, reed switches, Push buttons etc. to it's input cards. The processor will also control Output cards that will be wired to output field devices, such as motor contactors, control relays and indication lights etc. A PLC programmer will design a logic flow for the program using the input devices to trigger output devices depending on the logic of the Program. Most Industries small and large now use PLC's to control their manufacturing machinery. Some buy equipment pre-programmed and they may be proprietary. Others will buy, build and program their own to suit special needs.
