the dipstick for the engine is right in front of it, has a yellow handle. there is no dipstick for the transmission.
It doesnt have one its a sealed system
There is no Tranny dipstick on 1996 and newer malibus
2001 Malibu's have a sealed transmission. They don't have a dip stick.
That car does not have a dip stick to measure the level. You need to take the car to a garage that has a lift to be checked properly.
If this is an automatic, it would be in view on one side or the other close to the firewall. If this is a stick or manual transmission you don't have a dip stick.

I have a 1998 Malibu, and was told that Chevy decided when they re-introduced back the Malibu in 1997, they would leave out the transmission dip stick. Another way to give more service work to the Chevy dealerships inb my opinion. I was told the 2000 plus models do not have the dipstick as well. The claim is to follow your owners manual when to have the transmission checked based on a set milage mark. Thankfully, they allowed all other fluid levels to be checked by the owners, though I would not be too surprised if they decided to leave these out in furture models.
