The elements in the Periodic Table are arranged so that there is an increase from left to right (such as atomic radius) and from up to down (such as atomic weight). The elements that have somehow similar properties (not always, mind you) are arranged in families (or columns, as you unappropriately name them).
Hope this is useful.
Same amount of valence electrons, for example alkaline metals are very reactive because they want to get rid of one electron and so Lithium, Sodium , rubidium, potassium ,cesium , and francium all want to get rid of one electron!
vertical direction. they are called groups.
Elements with similar properties are found in the same column of the periodic table.
Elements with similar properties on the periodic table are found in columns called groups or families.
periodic table of elements
The elements in the same groups usually do. Elements in the same group have same number of valence electrons and hence have similar chemical and physical properties.
Elements in the same group (column) have the same properties. All the elements in group one have similar properties. All the elements in group two have similar properties. And so on...
In the columns of the periodic table, chemical properties are similar.
There are 18 periods in the periodic table. The periods are divided according to the chemical properties of elements. Elements in a group have similar properties.
Elements with similar physical and chemical properties are located in a group.
The properties of chemical elements have a periodic trend.
Both arrange elements in groups of elements having similar properties.
Both arrange elements in groups of elements having similar properties.
The elements with similar properties are placed in groups. Periodic table contain 18 groups.
periodic table of elements
A group of elements.
it is the ~group~ of the periodic table of elements
Elements with similar properties occur within the groups(columns) on the periodic table.Elements in the same group have same number of valence electrons and hence have similar chemical and physical properties.
Elements in the same group have similar properties. The groups are made according to the properties of elements. Elements in a group have an equal number of valence electrons.
Chemical properties.
