comets are large balls of gas and ice that are flying round in space. :-)
In space :)
All the comets that have been seen in history were in the solar system and most still are.
well, comets, because of the speed they have, most of them turn into fire. but there are some cases in wich they do´nt.
Comets were most likely made on day 4 of creation when God created the sun, moon and stars.

Comets are typically observed before sunrise or after sunset when the sky is dark enough to see their faint tails against the backdrop of space. This is because comets are most visible at these times when they are illuminated by the sun but not obscured by the brightness of daylight.
Most meteor showers are associated with the orbits of comets. When Earth passes through the debris left behind by a comet as it orbits the sun, the particles collide with Earth's atmosphere, creating the streaks of light known as meteors.
Of all the significant bodies in the solar system, comets are the ones with -- the most eccentric elliptical orbits -- the orbits most inclined to the plane of the ecliptic -- the most volatile compositions
Asteroids and comets are alike in that they are both heavenly or celestial bodies. Most of them were born early in the formation of the solar system too.
most comets travel near the oort belt.
