There is only one true polar desert and that is the Antarctic Desert comprising nearly the entire continent of Antarctica. Most of the northern polar region is not found on a continent but is simply sea ice so does not qualify as a true desert. Those portions on land are classified as tundra.
Tundras are a separate biome from deserts. The only polar desert is the Antarctic Desert. Most of the land area in the Arctic is tundra.

Hot subtropical deserts and polar deserts are extreme. Subtropical deserts are generally very hot while polar deserts are very cold.
