Programs are normally stored on a hard drive and loaded into memory for execution.
Software is stored as binary encoding on the hard drives of the computer (when it is turned off) When a software application is started at least part of the software is copied to the Random Access memory (RAM) for run-time execution.
Programs that are running are STORED on the hard drive (or CD/DVD, etc). However, they are copied to the computers memory (called RAM) while running. This is also where any changes are made, for example in a Word document. When you save it (or exit the program) the changes are written back to the hard drive, This is why crash or power outage can cause you to lose data, as the changed data does not get written back to the hard drive
In computers with a von Neumann architecture - i.e., basically ANY modern computer - both the data and the programs are basically stored in the SAME memory.Details vary from one type of computer to another, but in a typical desktop or laptop computer, the programs are stored on a hard disk; from there, in order to run a program, the program is copied to RAM. When the program is actually running, it is in RAM.
On the hard disk. If the program is running, then it is loaded in the computer memory (RAM).
Data stored mostly in user defined folders, such as My Documents etc. Programs are usually automatically placed into Program Files folder or Program Files x86.

Its done so to speed up the processing and for greater efficiency..
In the hardrive.

The invention of software (aka computer programs) was just one part of the invention of the stored program computer in the 1940s. Without it a stored program computer is no more than a very complex and expensive electrical heater!

What is the term used to describe businesses that sell computer software?digitally stored data
"Disaster recovery software backups your computer files in case of a crash or disaster. When your computer fails, the software has stored your information and files for retrival."
on the hard drive...typically anyway..
Stand alone computer
stand-alone computer
P2P or Peer-to-Peer transfers mean One Computer uploads a file (the software) directly to the second computer. Resulting in both computers having the same file. The original File and the new file on the second computer are stored on the hard-drives of each computer in what ever directory the users wish.
This is hard to say precisely. However the Minuteman I and II guidance computers stored their software on read only tracks on a harddisk platter, and the Apollo guidance computer stored its software in core rope ROM. But neither of these actually had an operating system, their software ran directly on the hardware with no intermediate layers.
Documents are stored as files on a computer storage device (hard drive, data stick, etc.).
It is stored in the Registry -- Click START then Click RUN -- Type in REGEDIT and it will take you into the REGESTRY --- Wildbilly Oki
You can see it when it is a CD, but a software in computers is stored in Hard drives and you can only notice it when running, by looking at your monitor.
