Fusible links are the small red wires that are connected to the starter. These wires have a heavy plastic insulation cover, and are designed to burn out inside upon failure. You will usually see a white or black plastic 2" cylindric section within a foot of the starter, along these wires.

Remove the retaining ring from the top of your 1997 Chevrolet 1500 ignition cylinder. Slide the ignition cylinder out and remove the wiring harness.
The ignition module on a 5.7 Chevy engine should be on top of the motor. It is mounted beside the distributor.
