New York City is about as urban as it gets. There are no rural communities within the city. You have to travel quite a way from New York City before you get to any community that could be considered rural.

What is the difference between New York City and Montana?

Well, for starters, they are two completely different places that are located about 2,000 miles apart from each other. New York City is a city, and Montana is a state. New York City is located in the Northeastern United States, while Montana is located in the Northwest. New York City is densely populated and urban, while Montana is rural and sparsely populated. New York City's air is badly polluted, while Montana's is relatively clean. New York City is exceptionally culturally diverse, while Montana is not. New York City has no cows, while Montana has lots of them. New York City is 3 words, while Montana is 1. There's no "a" in "New York City," while there are 2 in "Montana." There are thousands and thousands of other differences, as well. Too many to list here.
