You didn't say which engine you have so lets go with a 4.3 V6 first. On the 4.3 they are located on the side of the engine below the valve cover. On the V8's they are located under the individual coils in the centerline on top of the valve covers on both banks.

The spark plugs for a 1996 GMC Jimmy should have a gap of .060 inches or .040 inches, depending on the actual spark plug. Some plugs are factory set and you do not need to set the gap.

Follow the spark plug wires from the spark plugs. If it has a distributor cap, they will plug into it. It may not have one and have oil packs.

Spark plugs that you buy, should be pre-gapped for this application. 60MM is the gap for my 1998 GMC SIERRA with the same Engine and the AC-DELCO plugs that I use, are always pre-gapped and work just fine, right out of the box.
