I would recommend doing a search on Auto trader as they will have the largest range available and you can tailor your search. If you don't have any luck there, I would suggest trying the auto classifieds in your local newspaper.
Search lotpro.com and their filters to find cars either under $10000 or just slightly over. Even if you can't find one for under ten grand, there are plenty priced only slightly above.
