For any proofreading I would highly recommend using Slick Write and as a secondary option, Proofread Bot. If you want an even more thorough analysis, use Sentence Checker and Grammar Check.

Spellchecking and Grammar Checking Websites:

  1. Slick Write - This is easily my favorite one. Slick Write goes farther than the high quality grammar checker and displays a detailed sentence structure and word choice analysis.
  2. Proofread Bot - Proofread Bot gives an explanation on every error it detects. The only downside is that it does not highlight the errors.
  3. LanguageTool, OnlineCorrection, and Sentence Checker - The LanguageTool software is used by all three. It is a tough choice between LanguageTool and Sentence Checker, but I think I'll pick Sentence Checker because it has a nicer look. They both offer six english dialects, fullscreen or expandable screen, and no text limit. (The longer the text, the more time to check it)
  4. Grammar Check, GrammarBase, and After the Deadline - Out of these three identical tools, I would choose Grammar Check because it explains the issues and has a nicer look than After the Deadline. Note: Make sure you use the Free Check instead of the Deep Check. Not to be misunderstood, the Free Check is still an incredible grammar checker.
  5. SpellCheckPlus- SpellCheckPlus is a mediocre checker. It will run a maximum of 2000 characters and only reveals basic spelling and grammar mistakes.
  6. Ginger Software and Paper Rater - Paper Rater runs on Ginger Software. Ginger has a limit of 600 characters and Paper Rater has a limit of around 12000 characters or 2200 words. I have found that these checkers are weaker than the others.
  7. Reverso - This is like Ginger, 600 text limit and it does not find many mistakes. I would say that Reverso is better than Ginger, but worse than Paper Rater.
