Can you eat eggs after gall bladder surgery?

I had my gall bladder removed about a year and half ago. Eggs are the one food that I cannot eat without having to run to the bathroom shortly after eating them. I get very bad cramping, followed by diarrhea. I am wondering if anyone else has this problem with eggs?

What are the symptoms of gall bladder illness?

Gall bladder illness symptoms can range from nausea to a stabbing pain in the back between the shoulder blades - it feels like being stabbed. Certain foods effect different people - ie. for some people it is dairy products that cause an attack for others it can be eggs - individuals know immediately by how they feel.Attacks usually worsen with time, as the gall bladder becomes infected or more gall stones develop. Vomiting is a common symptom of a severe attack. The attack generally begins to ease after vomiting occurs, which is usually within a few hours of the onset of the attack.Commonly, gall stones occur in the gall bladder duct - as it contracts to process food it squeezes the stones and causes the severe pain.Gall bladder stones now are usually dissolved or exploded. Once there was no option other than major surgery - but, now even having a gall bladder removed is a small, simple procedure.

What does the gallbadder do in the digestive system?

Bile is produced in the liver and is stored in the the gall bladder. When fatty foods move from the stomach into the small intestine, bile is released into the small intestine to help digest the fat.

Why do you have liver pain when liver tests are normal?

It could just be muscular pain, not related to the liver. Or it could be gall-bladder pain (I don't think the health of the gall-bladder shows up on liver function testing). Or it might be psychological - if you're worried that your liver's going wrong, you're more likely to notice pain/discomfort in that area.

Where can I find out more about bladder cancer online?

You should visit a specialized medical website like http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmedhealth/PMH0001517/ to know more about bladder cancer. If that isn't enough information, then visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bladder_cancer

Why isn't the gall bladder a gland?

The gallbladder is not considered a gland because it does not produce hormones or enzymes. Its primary function is to store and concentrate bile produced by the liver, which is then released into the small intestine to aid in digestion. Glands are defined by their ability to produce and secrete substances, which the gallbladder does not do.

What happens to digestion after a gall bladder removal?

Some people fair well and other's don't. It depends on how bad the gall bladder was before the removal of it. I had a tough time because I only had pain under the back of my right shoulder blade and it took doctors 11 weeks to find out it was gall bladder and by the time I had the surgery it took 2 years to get my digestive system back to normal. This is however, not the case with most patients!!! Your gall bladder use to squirt acid into the stomach when you ate and as soon as the food hit your stomach. Now that you don't have the gall bladder and that little duct from the gall bladder the acid will go into the stomach more rapidly and settle in the stomach. Sometimes it doesn't bother some people and others it does. You're stomach will let you know what you can and can't eat. Avoid most fats, but do introduce Olive Oil, etc. (good fats) into your body. Sometimes spicy foods, whipping cream, bacon, etc., are a familiar complaint I hear from friends who have had their gall bladder removed. Alcohol, cigarettes and caffeine can cause excessive acid. Drink at least 8 - 8 ounce glasses of water to help flush out the acids in the stomach. Just try different foods and you'll soon find out if you can eat anything without further annoyance or you may have to avoid certain foods. There is no reason you shouldn't live a good life and enjoy most foods.
