the remington model 510 is a 22 plinking rifle used by adults and youth alike. they were not known to have been used by the military, but it's possible.
You have not provided enough information. Remington used/uses a date code, which is different for various models. A lot of this information is available on the web, but not from Remington.
The ones on the left side of the barrel by receiver are the date of manufacture code see related links for information on the Remington Society of America.
Being that these are/were military rifles, any example in perfect condition would probably bring in 2K range.
The Remington model 722 rifles were made from 1948-1962.To get the exact year of production,Remington used a barrel date letter code which can be found just ahead of the receiver on the barrel. This will be a 2,or 3 letter code. Then go to Remington,s web site and find the letter code system and date your rifle to the correct year.I have 2 Remington model 722 rifles, one in 300Savage caliber and the other in .244 Rem.caliber and would not sell either one. They are wonderful and accurate rifles. Most AR-type rifles are chambered for the 5.56x45 cartridge - the standard cartridge used by NATO (and also by several non-NATO) forces for their military's assault rifles. They can also chamber the .223 Remington cartridge, although a firearm with a dedicated .223 Remington chamber should not be used for military 5.56x45 ammunition.
Remington made 306,880 model 41 Target master rifles from 1936-1939. See related links for information on the Remington Society of America for the date code information stamped on the barrel (month/year)
With the serial number that you have provided, your Remington model of 1917 wa made in December of 1918.Your rifle was made at the end of production of these rifles for World War I.The last Remington serial number was 646,000.

Unsure of your description- am not aware that Remington ever made a woman's rifle. The model number is usually marked on the barrel. Serial numbers, IF ANY, are on the frame. Serial numbers were not required until the 1968 Gun Control Act- I have several Remington 22 rifles that have never HAD a serial number. Remington rifles, BTW, are dated not from the serial number, but a 2 or 3 LETTER code stamped on the barrel. Left side, about a half inch from the receiver.
