There are a number of places where you can take your teen to volunteer. I would start with places like the Boys & Girls club, the American Red Cross, or even your local church group or community.

Your son can be a volunteer tutor. He can contact organizations that are in need of tutors. He can also go to idealist.org for volunteer opportunities in your surrounding neighborhood.

It really depends on where you live. It's really hard to find somewhere because most places want someone 14+ to volunteer. I'm 12 years old and I volunteer at a nursing home.

a 13 year old can volunteer at a hospital if you voluteer to help nurse and take care of the people there but you cant volunteer to do surgery's and stuff like that
play sports, study, join clubs, write cover letter, volunteer work
A few great teen activities would be the following: Bowling, skiing, snowboarding, horse back riding, roller skating/blading. Teens could also volunteer at a local YMCA, or homeless shelter as well.
