Most people would think that microwaves use heat to warm up the food, but that isn't true. As you know almost every food has traces of water. What a microwave does is it send waves of electricity which "excites" the water inside the food. When water is "Excited" it produces heat which warms up the food. So basically the food warms it's self up. For example have you seen when lightining strikes a tree?. The tree sets on fire because the lightining " Excites " the water in the tree.
