As a depressed teen, I will tell you that there is no cure. You can take a happy pill, but I do not because I do not believe in medicine. If the teen REALLY WANTS help, give them help -- happy pills, therapy, counsuling, or just someone to talk to. But if the teen does not want help, try just leaving them alone for a while. If they do not become happy on their own within months or years of leaving them alone, i suggest you talk with them about the effects of suicide. The only real thing that can keep a teen from not commiting suicide, is friends. Family is just annoying to them, but true friends......they help everything.

I am a teen who has been diagnosed with depression. You can think your all sad and pathetic but until you talk to a doctor or a therapist you can't say you're "mentally depressed" or "clinically depressed". I'm clinical. If its clinical they can fix it. If its mental then they can give you some happy pills but its up to you to get over it.
