There are several places that one can buy shocks and struts, including Firestone, Pep Boys, Autozone, and any other place that sells auto parts and equipment.
Actually your Camry has struts but many people refer to them as shocks. Struts are used instead of shocks because they are more effiecient and last longer.
Shocks are just that, shocks. There is already a suspension system in place and you add shocks to it. The shocks can be replaced easily.Struts have part of the suspension andthe shocks included in one assembly. The struts have to be disassembled for access to the shocks.
McPherson struts at the front (shocks and springs together in one unit) Gas shocks at the rear
Bad shocks or struts is one possibility.
They have four struts, one for each wheel. Check out Dodgeintrepid.net for a ton of info on these cars.
Take the price of one shock, add it to the price of one strut, and multiply by four.
One on each corner. One on each corner.
One possible answer: Loose bolts in combination with bad shocks or struts.
It has Struts and not shocks. If the car is bouncing or floating whenever you hit a dip in the road, or seems to handle poorly, these are signs of worn struts. A leak in one of the struts is also a sign of a bad strut. Mileage is another factor. Struts today will last a long time, but if the car has over 100,000 miles, then more than likely the struts need replacing. As to replacing them, unless you have the proper tools and knowledge, take it to a pro. Serious injury can occur when replacing struts, if you don't know what you are doing.
Service Ride Control warning means one or some of your shocks or struts are worn out. They will need replacing and it is not cheap,
( www.motorcraft.com ) lists shock absorbers for front and back - no struts There is actually an option for front coil over struts on an 02 Explorer. I actually have one, and it IS in fact front struts. When I changed them, I had to take them to the local parts store to have the springs and upper mounts swapped over. It depends on the model-the 2 Dr (Sport) and the Sport Trak have shocks and the 4 dr has struts. The 2 door and 4 door models are totally different vehicles. The 4 door was a total redesign whereas the 2 dr was going out of production
Just shock absorbers - 2 on the front - 2 on the rear ( and there is a smaller " shock absorber " that is angled , it's used to stabilize the differential - when the dealership changed my 4 shocks on my 1995 they did not suggest that I have that one changed also )
