Well first Hurt is not a song (by) Johnny Cash he covered the song which was originally done by the band Nine Inch Nails. As far as which is the better song its all opinions but if you look at covers of these songs (which have both been covered a lot) Hurt has been covered by way more artists then redemption song. In rolling stones top 500 songs of all time Redemption song came in at 66 while Hurt failed to make the list. Hope this helps... P.S Fun fact Johnny Cash also covered Redemption Song....
