In both of these places, the bones are held together with several strong ligaments to prevent their separation, but since they are not fused, and are joints, there is limited movement between the bones.

I believe your collar bone starts at both sides of your lower neck and reaches your shoulders. My sister broke hers when she was a toddler. Thanks!
