You can certainly audition for it.

It isn't even known yet if auditions will even be held. Hopefully they will be, as the author James Patterson would clearly prefer non-Hollywood actors, but don't get your hopes up. Even if there are auditions, chances are they'll just do a prescreen, or a private casting call.

James Patterson released the rights and Catherine Hardwicke is going to be directing. You can audition...but you must have experience. They are not going to be doing an open cast call. Also, no matter what, NEVER send you're headshot and resume to the director. THEY WILL TRASH IT. You must send it to their casting director. Catherine Hardwicke has yet to hire a casting director. So the movie will not be cast soon anyways.
