any sporting shop that sells ammunition..................
a gunsmith needs to check both the ammo and rifle.
45 long colt ammo for modern weapons. If black powder weapon should only used re-loads with black powder
Have it checked over by a good gunsmith before you attmept this.
It's not the same. .45 LC (long colt) and .45 Mag are not the same.
.45 Long Colt.
They are the same exact round. When the .45 Schofield (S&W) round was introduced in the late 1800s people began to refer to the .45 Colt as the .45 Long Colt, or Long .45, because the .45 Schofield was shorter. The name may have changed for a while, but the actual round never did.
45 ACP
You will need to call Colt for a definitive answer.
Not unless the maker says it is safe to do so.
DON'T DO THIS UNLESS THE MAKER SAYS IT IS SAFE TO DO SO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Model 1 uses standard .45 Colt (not .45 Auto- .45 ACP) and 2.5 inch .410 shotshells. However- this is a fairly small handgun- and the .45 Colt is not a small cartridge. You will likely find recoil very unplesant with standrd .45 Colt ammo. Several companies do load a reduced power "cowboy shooting" version of the .45 Colt, which would reduce some of the kick.
The .45 Schofield can be fired in a .45 Long Colt revolver, but the .45 Long Colt cannot be fired in a .45 Schofield revolver.
