What do you put on a belly button piercing?

You are supposed to put salt water on it. Either put it on a cotton ball then on your belly piercing for 8 minutes or you can put the salt water in a shot glass and put it on it for 8 minutes. Also remember to make sure it is warm salt water and to rinse your belly ring after. This should be done twice a day (Once in morning and once at night)

Can you put peroxide on a belly button piercing?

No, when I got my belly button pierced my piercer told me specifically not to use peroxide or alcohol on the piercing. If peroxide or alcohol gets on it, it'll be fine but it dries out your skin which isn't good for healing or cleaning. Use soapy warm water and a sea salt water mixture to throughly clean your piercing, that's what I used, as I was following my piercer's instructions. I've had my piercing for almost 7 months and I've never had a problem with it.

If your at the beach and you get your belly button pierced can you get in the salt water?

it depends. if you got it about 2 weeks ago you shouldn't because the piercing will get HUGE and greatly INFECTED because of the salt water. BTW. Great question. i had to learn the hard way... Sewage is pumped regularly into the sea around the UK (and elsewhere), Swimming in seawater and sewage is NOT the best way to help a new piercing to heal.

What is the best thing to use to clean a belly button piercing?

Dont use anything strong, it just causes problems eg. dettol;some people say dettol is good but its not i consulted many piercing technicians and thay all say dettol and those other type of products are too strong.Warm salty water is a really good formula to use to clean your belly piercing, 1 cup of water and half a teaspoon of rock salt (make sure its not table salt), get a cotton bud and clean around both holes and then move the belly bar to try to get the liquid through.hope my information has been helpful, good luck

What to do when a belly button piercing is red and swollen?

It all depends on how long you have had your piercing. If it has been more than 1 month, it might be infected. But if it is relatively new, that is perfectly normal. In both cases, just keep cleaning it with a sea salt and water solution and it should be OK. If is persists, go to your piercer, and they should be able to tell you and give you further instructions. Happy Piercing!

Can you use drinking alcohol to clean a bellly button piercing?

You never use any type of alcohol to clean any piercing. Use a mixture of natural sea salt and warm water. Alcohol kills whats helping your piercing heal.

What should you put on a belly piercing if sore and red?

If it's sore and red, you can take ibuprofen to reduce the swelling. But you should always use sea salt soaks (8oz of warm water and about 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of salt) and soak your piercing to reduce the chances of infection.

How do you take care of a new piercing?

There are certain specific things that can be done for taking care of and healing piercings depending upon what kind of piercing it is but one thing that is natural, and extremely effective in healing your new piercing while preventing it from getting infected is sea salt soaks. Any professional piercing shop will recommend this. All you have to do is put 8 oz of water in a cup or bowl and put it in the microwave until it's hot- not bowling or extremely untollerable, just as hot as you can stand it. Then add 1/4 tsp (that's all it takes, don't add extra) of SEA SALT. It's very important that it's sea salt and not regular table salt. You can find sea salt at almost any grocery store. The salt will disolve in the water and the hold the cup on your piercing (for ex. a belly button piercing) so that there's suction and just keep it on for a few minutes until the water cools down. If it's an ear piercing then lean your head sideways into a small bowl so that the piercing is covered in the water. If the piercing is in a place were you can't hold the cup or bowl on it then just drench some cotton balls in it and hold those on the piercing.

What is the best way to clean a belly piercing?

When you get your piecing done you will be provided with written aftercare instructions for your piercing. Follow the instructions and please listen to your professional body piercer, should you have issues they are the ones you want to talk to before you go looking for help else where.

Is antiseptic cream good for a belly button piercing?

It really isnt necessary. Using the cream can 'suffocate' the piercing because its thick. It could also trap dirt and things like that. Unless its recommended from a doctor for an infection or something like that, stay away from it and stick with sea salt soaks

How do you clean belly jewelry once removed?

You're best bet is to clean it in a salt solution (a mixture of salt and boiling water). You can also clean it in alcohol such a vodka. Either way be sure to rinse the jewellery well before putting it back in. Does it matter which salt you use? Sometimes you have to have a perticular salt. lol At the mo im finding it hard to even take my belly piercing out.

Will bedadine help your belly button infection?

What you actually want to be using is liquid antibacterial soap and water and wash the piercing twice a day for the first day then every day there after for a week (7) days. Flushing the piercing with warm running water daily after cleaning to ensure you get all the soap out of the piercing. Stop using whatever you were using for cleaning, just soap and water. This should turn an infected navel piercing around in 24 to 48 hours.Things you don't use on your piercing: Alcohol, Hydrogen Peroxide, Sea salt, Salt, Betadine, Polysporin, Neosporin, Bactine, Pierced Ears Solution, Contact Lens solution, Aspirin, Epsom Salts, Dragon Mist. You need to flush the irritant out of the piercing and it won't heal if you keep putting the above items on the piercing. Liquid antibacterial soap, diluted with a little water as you lather it up will work the best to clean and disinfect the piercing.
